Honouring disability-friendly institutions
Sharjah 24: Haider Taleb
Rabie, Secretary-General of the World Disability Union, shared that the Union
organised its 14th annual ceremony to recognise institutions that have made
efforts to prepare their facilities to be more accessible and friendly to people
with disabilities.
Recognition of efforts in
accessibility
During the ceremony, over
22 institutions from the United Arab Emirates were honored, along with a
shopping center in Pakistan for its commitment to creating an inclusive
environment for people with disabilities. The Federation's certificate,
recognized by the United Nations, was awarded to these institutions for their
exceptional work.
Launch of the “World
Disability Union Medal”
Haider Taleb also
introduced the “World Disability Union Medal,” which will be awarded to
individuals who have made outstanding contributions in advocating for people
with disabilities and building more inclusive societies.
The ceremony was attended
by Sheikh Majid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Dr Tariq Sultan bin Khadem, and Haider
Taleb Rabie.
