Within its celebrations of the International Day of the Disabled, the Regional Office of the World Disability Union held a ceremony honoring the institutions that implement environmental standards for people with disabilities and distributed their certificates of accreditation as friendly institutions that apply the highest international environmental standards for the disabled.
The honoring ceremony was witnessed by His Excellency Dr. Tariq Sultan bin Khadim, Vice President of the World Disability Union, Chairman of the Board of Directors of AlThiqah Club for the Disabled, and Mohammed Abdullah, CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank, Adel Al Balushi from the Dubai Police General Command and representatives of the honorable authorities.
Dr. Tariq Sultan bin Khadim said that with the spread of the culture of disability-friendly environments, which the UAE government has adopted through many projects to improve the services provided, it was necessary for these service standards to be united by one umbrella, instead of each party having its own standards that may not be in shape. The same provided by another party, and this is what we sought to present through the office of the World Disability Union, so that those standards conform to the highest international standards, directing thanks and appreciation to the Evaluation Committee for its great role in following up and evaluating many governmental and private agencies inside and outside the country.
Haider Taleb Arba`, Secretary-General of the World Disability Union and Chairman of the Evaluation Committee, confirmed that this is the second batch of the honored institutions, and there is a third batch that will be honored next March, indicating that the evaluation committee has visited many private and government agencies. This certificate, which is granted to various institutions, sets global standards and standard specifications that all institutions and public utilities must adhere to, in order to provide a high-end service that allows easy integration for this segment of society, and a high-end service that helps them easily meet their needs, in addition to enjoying their normal life without hindrances.
